The Houston Hurricanes were formed in 2006 and competed in their first Gay Bowl that year. After taking a hiatus in 2007, the Hurricanes were back in full force for Gay Bowl XIII in Utah, Gay Bowl IX in DC, and recently Gay Bowl X in Phoenix.
Each year the team brings in new talent and renewed interest in forming a Gay Flag Football League in Houston, TX. In 2011, the Houston Hurricanes are sporting two scrimmage squads in order to prepare for area and national tournaments and further prepare for Gay Bowl XI in Houston.
